Winter Fashion Trends: Why You Should Invest in High Quality Fur Coats

Fur clothing indeed offers an exceptional sense of fashion and functionality. There’s a softness and warmth that you just can’t resist along with the fact that it makes you stand out. With the resurgence of fur in a variety of forms (e.g. scarf/shawl, cape, vest/jacket, and boots) and the booming of its industry, even men now take pride in wearing fur-based apparel.

However, keep in mind that only those perfectly handcrafted garments made from high-grade fur come with priceless benefits. So learn how to spot a genuine from a fake, a cheap imitation from a truly designer fur, and a well-crafted one rather than something that wouldn’t last for long; particularly when aiming for vintage or timeless designs. Fortunately, more and more high quality fur coats for sale are now available—some are designed and manufactured by prominent brands.

Furry Friend: Taking Care of Fur Clothing

Fur clothes are one of the most comfortable garments one can wear. Yet for all their beauty and coziness, fur is one of the most difficult materials to take good care of. With proper and constant maintenance, however, fur can last for years.

As fur is made from the pelt of animals, it should be treated similarly to leather, as excessive exposure to the sun, heat, and moisture can ruin the material. Humidity can also take its toll upon the delicate garment, so owners should be extra careful when storing their furs. Preferably, fur clothes need to be kept in a spot with as little moisture, light, and warmth as possible in order to preserve its quality.

Maintaining fur isn’t limited to storage, as owners should also take good care of their furs even as they wear them. Fur is vulnerable to abrasion, so wearers should avoid sitting on them, as well as using accessories such as bracelets, shoulder bags, or brooches, that could snag on the linings of the fur. Fur is also sensitive to odors, and should be kept away from perfume as much as possible. Additionally, fragrances might have chemicals that can damage the material’s lining, so wearers should be cautious when using scents together with their furs.

Getting Ready for Winter Action with Fur Coats

Freezing temperatures are once again prevalent in cities like New York and Chicago, and this means that people will have to protect themselves from the cold through winter clothing. At times, however, even layers and layers of sweaters and vests are not enough to provide the warmth that people need. A good alternative then is to purchase fur coats from online stores or retail shops.

Not all fur coats are one and the same though, and women have to carefully choose a fur coat style that suits them; otherwise, they will look like they are trying too hard. In addition, fur coats are considered an investment because of their price tag, so women will have to consider each option carefully in order for their selected fur coat to last them a lifetime. Women also have to decide whether they want a fur coat to draw out their elegant style or make them look more casual.

Out of all the styles of fur coats, mink fur coats are perhaps the ones which evoke true elegance. These fur coats can be waist-length or knee-length and they serve as great accompaniments to evening gowns. Meanwhile, if women desire a laidback style, they can go for rabbit fur coats, which come with affordable price tags for their convenience.

Fur Coats 101: Cleaning

Fur coats are great articles of clothing: they look great, they age well if well-maintained, and they keep the wearer warm on cold winter days. If worn properly, men and women alike can look classy with the right fur coat.

Like all items, however, fur coats can gather dust and become dirty when kept in storage for an extra long period of time. A dirty fur coat is an unattractive fur coat, so cleaning has to be done in order to get the coat back to its pristine condition.

Here are some of the things one has to consider whencleaning fur coats:
  1. Determine the type of fur. Determining the type of fur the coat has is helpful in the cleaning process. Different kinds of furs have different peculiarities that the owner has to be aware of, or she might risk ruining the coat.
  2. Be careful with liquids. If a fur solution is to be applied to the coat, spray it evenly, with one spray per area. Do not soak the fur. If the coat gets wet after getting exposed to the outside, shake the coat out and hang it in a cool, dry space away from the sunlight.
  3. Trust the professionals, and have it cleaned annually. Furriers have extensive experience with different kinds of fur coats, and they know what appropriate actions are to be done. Make sure that the coat gets cleaned at least once a year, be it DIY or professional work.

Types of Outdoor Coats For Everyone

Even though they’ve been around for hundreds of years, coats derived from animals remain to be a classic, stylish outerwear worn by both men and women. Much have changed since then as far as the creation of these coats are concerned. Fur coats, in particular, can either be made from genuine or synthetic materials, otherwise known as faux fur. Generally speaking, outerwear such as these can still be classified based on the material they’re made from.

Wool or wool blend coats are mostly derived from sheep or lamb fleece, although they can also be made from other materials, like camel hair. Because of this variety in materials, wool blend coats can be coarse or soft to the touch, sometimes both. Cashmere blend coats are roughly the same as wool coats, but they are much more durable. Fleece coats, meanwhile, are universally soft and lightweight. They also have a certain degree of insulation, which makes them a popular outerwear for avid outdoorsy people.

For those who don’t mind the additional bulkiness, the traditional fur coat would suit them as it gives even greater insulation while being stylish at the same time. Shearlingcoats, in particular, have a very smooth texture that make them comfortable to the skin. Faux fur coats are more affordable and mimic the appearance of real fur, although not so much in terms of texture and comfort.
